Dakota leaders Medicine Bottle and Sakpe are executed without proper trial
Dakota leaders Medicine Bottle and Sakpe are drugged, kidnapped, and brought to Fort Snelling for a war crimes trial. In a one-sided trial, the U.S. government brings forward witnesses who only share hearsay evidence, and the Dakota are not allowed to call any witnesses for their defense. Both leaders are sentenced to death and executed by hanging (Nies, 1996)
